About Juliette

Juliette has performed five one-woman shows, When I Grow UpLook At Me, Decision Time, Butterfly Effect and Defined at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with total sold out runs in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Her shows tour the UK and internationally with repeatedly sold out shows to critical and audience acclaim. She’s performed at Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and New Zealand International Comedy Festival.

In 2020 she developed virtual shows ReDefinedHappy Hour and Kindness In Quarantine for online audiences and was recommended as a provider of lockdown comedy by The Guardian alongside Frankie Boyle and Kiri Pritchard Mclean.

In 2019 Juliette was listed as one the funniest comedians at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival by The Telegraph, Evening Standard and iPaper. In 2018 Juliette was listed as ‘one to watch’ in The Times’ ‘Best of Edinburgh Fringe’ shortlist, ‘Best Comedy To See’ in the Sunday Times Culture magazine and in The Telegraph’s ‘Rising Stars’ of the Edinburgh Fringe.  In 2017 Juliette won the Voice Magazine Pick of the Fringe Award at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Spirit of the Fringe Award at Bedfringe for Butterfly Effect. The previous year, Juliette won the New Current Woman of the Year Award at the Edinburgh Fringe. She also won the Argus Angel Award at the Brighton Fringe for Look At Me in 2015. Juliette has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe since 2009.

Juliette’s TV and radio credits include BBC at The Edinburgh Festivals (BBC), The One Show (BBC One), This Morning (ITV), Tomorrow’s World (BBC), Skin Deep (BBC Radio Scotland) and Feeling Kind Of Funny (BBC Radio Scotland). She produces and presents the Positive Mental Attitude podcast (available to download from 10 October 2018) in association with ReThink Mental Illness. Juliette played the lead role in SuperMum, directed by Lisa Gifford, which premiered at the 2015 Raindance Film Festival.

Juliette studied Comedy Writing and Producing at the National Television School from 2016 to 2018.

As a writer, Juliette has contributed to Cosmopolitan, The IndependentiPaperThe Huffington Post and the BBC News.

Juliette is an ambassador for ReThink Mental Illness and a supporter, fundraiser and campaigner for Mind for mental health charities Mind and B-eat.

Juliette is a spokesperson for the Be Real Campaign. She has appeared on ITV’s This Morning with Philip Schofield and Amanda Holden, as well as on London Live and is a regular contributor to programmes on BBC Radio Scotland. She presented at the Body Confidence Awards 2014 held at the House of Commons alongside Gok Wan, columnist Viv Groskop and Jameela Jamil.

She studied journalism as well as acting and comedy writing and worked at IPC Media, BBC, Archant Media and Telegraph Media.

Mental health 

Juliette has a history of mental health conditions, having been diagnosed with OCD, anxiety disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, complex post traumatic stress disorder, separation anxiety disorder, anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder. She has experienced psychosis involving hallucinations, paranoia and agoraphobia as well as social anxiety disorder and was sectioned under the mental health act at the age of 17. She is an ambassador for the mental health charity Rethink Mental Illness, works closely with Mind, Beat and Time To Change and is at the vanguard of acts incorporating these issues into their work in innovative and entertaining ways for mainstream audiences.

Juliette is an informed speaker and able to talk confidently on the subject of mental health, using her experiences and strength to offer hope.
